NOMINAL CHEMICAL COMPOSITION %:
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES:
Solidus 1250° F (677° C)
Liquidus 1410° F (765° C)
Density 5.14 ounces per cu.in
Electrical Conductivity 24.8% IACS
BRAZING PROPERTIES:
Safety Silv 30 brazing filler metal is primarily designed for brazing copper, brass, and steel. This alloy has a wider melting range which allows use where part clearance cannot be tightly controlled. Safety Silv 30 is often selected as a lower cost, cadmium free, and replacement for higher silver content alloys. Safety Silv 30 should be heated at a rapid rate through its melting range to avoid liquation.
CORROSION RESISTANCE
Generally similar to the copper base metal, but zinc containing alloys, including Safety Silv 30, should not be used if the braze
is exposed to concentrated corrosive liquid for a long period of time
AVAILABLE FORMS
Standard wire diameters in coils and rod
Formed braze rings and shapes
Flux coated rod
SPECIFICATION COMPLIANCE:
ANSI/AWS A5.8 Class BAg-20, ASME SFA5.8 Class BAg-20,
QQ-B-654A BAg-20, ISO 17672 Ag 230
RECOMMENDED FLUX:
Stay-Silv® white flux is suitable for many applications. Stay-Silv® black brazing flux is often used if brazing stainless steel or where heating cycles are prolonged or focused as in induction brazing. Harris ECO SMART® boric acid free flux, (powder or paste), is an excellent choice to promote sound brazed assemblies and comply with European REACH requirements.
SAFETY INFORMATION:
WARNING: PROTECT yourself and others. Read and understand this information.
FUMES AND GASES can be hazardous to your health. HEAT RAYS, (infrared radiation) from flame or hot metal can injure eyes.
Before use, read and understand the manufacturer’s instructions, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and your employer’s safety practices. Keep your head out of fumes. Use enough ventilation, exhaust at the flame, or heat source, to keep fumes and gases from your breathing zone and the general area. Wear correct eye, ear, and body protection. |
